Statiner

Vet jeg har babla mye om Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine her. Gir meg ikke med det, bra bok. Her et sitat fra siste utgave (2010) om statiner, har ikke sett dette bedre noe annet sted.

Statins in primary prevention causes side-effects and is expensive.
TOP PRIORITY: Treat all those with known CVD (there is no need to calculate their risk: ipso facto they already have high risk).
2ND PRIORITY: Treat all those with DM (especially if risk of cardiac event >2%/year).
3RD PRIORITY: Those with a 10-year risk of CVD>20%, irrespective of baseline lipid levels.
There is not yet enough data to support a 4th priority of giving statins to all men over 50 and women over 60.
